One of my goals at the beginning of the year set in my Magic Hundred was to snowboard down a black run.
I went to Les Deux Alpes a few weeks ago and whilst I did OK on the snowboard, I was certainly not confident enough to go down a black run.
However last weekend, my wife and I took a sneaky weekend away to Switzerland. Murren was the resort, in the same region as the Eiger mountain. On Sunday we took the cable car to the top of the mountain at over 3000 meters and had lunch in the restuarant on the top.
If you’ve ever seen the James Bond film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” it featured a mountain top hide out. This is where the resturant is. The restuarant is quite special as the floor revolves andyou get a full 360 degree panoramic view over the period of about 45 minutes.
Anyway, there is a Black run from the restuarant, so instead of taking the lift back down the mountain, I jumped on the snowboard and edged my way down the mountain.
Not the most graceful of descents, but managed some decent turns and got down without falling.
Another goal checked off my Magic Hundred list.
